Jackson County Bicentennial Dedication – On January 10, 1816, the Illinois county of Jackson was created after a petition signed by settlers was presented to authorities at the territorial capital of Kaskaskia. Brownsville was named the county seat and remained so until 1843.
On January 23, 2016, Jackson county will celebrate its Bicentennial by memorializing Dr. Conrad Will, father of Jackson County, by placing a plaque on the courthouse grounds. A second plaque will be placed to honor our 200th anniversary.
