The Social Security Administration is launching a new service for mySocialSecurity account users.  This is great news for Southern Illinois residents!

The Social Security Administration is launching a new online service where disability claimants can find updates on the status of their application or appeal.

Anyone who has ever filed a Social Security Disability claim knows the frustration of waiting for a decision that may or may not be favorable.  That's why the Social Security Administration has come up with a new addition to your online portal that allows you to view status updates as they happen.

The service, set to be launched this month, will provide important information to claimants.

According to the Social Security Blog, here is some of the information you can expect to find in your account after the update (if applicable):

  • Date of filing
  • Current claim location
  • Scheduled hearing date and time
  • Re-entry numbers for incomplete applications
  • Servicing office location
  • Claim or appeal decision

If you have not opened a mySocialSecurity account yet, don't wait any longer!

Creating a mySocialSecurity account is free and easy.  You can find directions on how to sign up by clicking here.  If you are not comfortable signing up for an account by yourself, ask a relative or your Southern Illinois Social Security Disability attorney to help you.  Whatever your choice, don't neglect this simple way to help secure your future.
